Zhangfei Beef “originates from Baoning dried beef and is a traditional halal flavor food produced by the Hui people in Langzhong. Developed by the Wang brothers, a Muslim from Langzhong during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, it became well-known throughout the Qianlong period of the Qing dynasty. During the Three Kingdoms period, Zhang Fei, a famous general of the Shu Kingdom, guarded Langzhong for seven years. He loved his people like sons and was known as the “Tiger Minister and Good Shepherd” by Langzhong. In the late 1990s, Langzhong County Beef Processing Factory was restructured and transformed into a privately-owned beef processing factory. In memory of Zhang Fei, a father and mother official, the factory was designated as “Langzhong Zhangfei Beef Processing Factory” and is now known as “Sichuan Zhangfei Beef Co., Ltd.
Zhang Fei selects high-quality beef leg muscles, cuts them into small pieces, marinates and presses them with salt, Sichuan peppercorns and other spices, squeezes out the water, and loosens them for flavor after use; Put it back into the soil tank and seal its mouth. Beef is rich in nutrients, strong in muscles and bones, delicious in taste, suitable for all ages.
In 1912, it was rated as a “superior food” at the Sichuan Provincial Industrial Promotion Conference. In 2010, it was announced as the third batch of intangible cultural heritage protection projects in Langzhong City. It has successively obtained titles such as “National Agricultural Product Processing Demonstration Enterprise”, “China Famous Trademark”, “Four Famous Brand Industries”, and “Sichuan Time honored Brand Products”.
